Accessories are the perfect companion for any chic geek outfit. No outfit ever really looks complete without them. So since you need earrings and a necklace anyway, why not an adorable set of Companion Cube jewelry to take your look through a portal from average to amazing. This whole set is from Etsy shop Fantastique Plastique. Normally I don't do matchy-matchy jewelry but these are small and the details are subtle enough that it doesn't feel too overdone. Keep the look casual cute and perfect for the (finally) warmer weather we're getting.
Portal has got to be one of the most fun games ever. Though I have a personal bias in favour of anything made by Valve. I don't know why. Their games are just better than any others. Though even out of the Valve games, Portal has a special place in my heart. Its a bit more lighthearted, fun and whimsical. Games like Portal are refreshing in a world where games like Halo and Call of Duty dominate. Too much chaos and shooting, over it. Accessories are the perfect companion for any chic geek outfit. I'll admit to just about the worst of my geekery. Unfortunately, I played Warcraft a lot in high school. Too much really (don't judge me, anyone who's ever played it knows it oddly addictive). And of course, I was always part of the Alliance. They're the good guys, they must be, since they have all the pretty races (or at least they did before Blizzard decided that the Horde needed Blood Elves). Obviously, this bag was calling my name. This is why as a geek, I love Etsy. It's an amazing place almost entirely made up of handcrafted goodies and geekwear you just can't find anywhere else. But to find a handcrafted leather bag with as much detail as this one has is remarkable. "Glory and Honor" is stamped across the top flap, and the well-known Alliance insignia stamped on the side. Thankfully the talented WorldofLeathercraft has you covered if you want your own bag like this one (and yes, if you're for the Horde you can get that instead). I'd guess it has about 8 slots to store all your gear, and enough room so you'll be ready for any unexpected epic loot drops. Keep this look tough with boots, a vest and some seriously cool jeans. You're ready to take on anything, raiding or dueling. Cropped jackets have been all over the runways for spring 2014. It's one of the hottest trends, having shown up at shows like BCBG Max Azria, Rebecca Minkoff, Herve Leger, and Dennis Basso. No wonder the ever-so-stylish Mikasa Ackerman opts for this jacket. Since this is a titan-sized trend, I figured the most appropriate way to geekify it would be with an Attack on Titan theme. I always knew the leading lady of the show, Mikasa was more than just badass, she's also totally on trend. This jacket is almost the exact same one she wears throughout the entire series! That for me is thrilling, I always get really excited when something directly from a show happens to be a real product and totally wearable. Feel the same way? You can get this jacket from Etsy seller Tbcosplay. Is there anything better than being able to wear something of a favourite fictional character without looking costume-y? Keep it tough with studs and plaid and you'll be the hero of your town too. In celebration of St. Patrick's day, today's post is going green and being dedicated to one of my favourite superheros. A hero so great he might as well be a saint! Ok, well maybe that's pushing it. Today's post is about The Green Lantern. More specifically, about the cutest Green Lantern dress ever! This dress from Etsy seller Vampirebunnies is so perfect for anything the (hopefully upcoming) summer has to throw at you. It's casual cute and comfortable all in one. A simple sweetheart dress packs a huge punch with a printed upper half that adds character and simple flowing skirt to balance it out. While you may not have your own power ring, the Guardians of the Universe will have their eyes on you in this adorable ensemble. To really be ready for anything (like Hal Jordan himself), pair with a carry-all type of bag and some cute comfy shoes. I love arcades, I love arcade games, and there is absolutely no arcade in the world that is complete without some version of Pac-Man. It's that classic game that somehow everyone grew up playing. Even though the game is 34 years old, making it at least a decade old already when I played it as a kid, it was still one of the most influential games. This brings me to the obvious conclusion that Pac-Man, ghosts or otherwise, can never really die. And really, why would anybody want it to? Pac-Man meets Ms. Pac-Man on this skirt in a triumphant moment of nostalgia. Its a 12 year long romance (Seriously though Pac-Man, after 12 years why isn't she a Mrs. yet?). I adore this PacMan in Love skirt from Poprageous, dedicated specifically to this power couple. It demonstrates just how powerful love can be in overcoming all obstacle. Or at the very least in avoiding some apparently underfed ghosts. And don't kid yourself, this outfit could make anyone fall in love. Alright, so I'll be the first to admit I haven't played a whole lot of Mass Effect. Not because the game isn't awesome, it totally is. Moreso because I absolutely suck at third (and first) person shooters. Shooting games in general descend from fun to rage-inducing frustration due to my own terrible aim and dying about seven times in a matter of five minutes. But, man those first few minutes are always bliss. So generally when it comes to these types of games I play the role of supportive and enthusiastic spectator. I'm fine with that. Even though I'm not a major Mass Effect player, I do actually love watching people better than myself play it. It's just as thrilling and exhilarating to watch someone else play, and a whole lot less infuriating. That's why when I stumbled upon this Mass Effect varsity jacket from jammymunkey I instantly fell in love. I personally adore the classic Mass Effect black and red colour combo, but if it's more your style to do neutrals it comes in black and gray contrast, too. While it may only come in men's, the whole boyfriend fit trend is still hot, so I say rock this men's jacket chic geeks! Though boyfriend trend or not, it's always acceptable to wear men's clothing stylishly. This look will definitely have a desired mass effect. So go on and make Commander Shepard proud and wear this jacket like the urban armour it is. In case this hasn't made itself painfully apparent yet, I generally prefer DC comics to Marvel. But that doesn't mean that Marvel should be forgotten about. I feel guilty for neglecting them from my blog for so long, I'm sorry Marvel (Though somehow I'm sure Stan Lee will find it in his heart to forgive me). Marvel have given us a slew of incredible and fun stories. Marvel gave us the X-Men, The Avengers, Iron Man, Deadpool, and of course the Marvel poster-boy himself Spider-Man. For the sake of being perfectly honest, the movies Marvel has made lately have been better than DC's movies (excluding the Batman series of course, those were incredible). So in case you needed a reminder of why Marvel is awesome, or in case you feel like reminding others around you, here's a pair of leggings featuring all the reasons you need from welovefine. The artwork of the actual characters was so cute I just couldn't resist (also, I'm currently obsessed with leggings). Throw these leggings on with a long tank top, comfy shoes and it's the perfect outfit for shopping in style, hanging out, going to the movies or whatever. And trust me, you'll look MARVELous! About two years ago my brother called me over to watch a YouTube video. A video that went insanely viral. A video that became the 5th most watched YouTube video. A video that became a huge trend for reasons I still don't understand but honestly, I'm all for it. Of course I'm talking about Nyan Cat. It still amazes me how one of the most absurdly silly things I've ever heard became such a pop culture phenomenon. And even more curious, I actually LOVE it. Maybe it's the extra dose of positive energy. In a crazy chaotic world, there's nothing that says "pure happiness" like a half Pop-Tart half-cat hybrid that spews out some sort of rainbow exhaust as it races through space (Seriously, try and think of something happier than that). It's pure whimsy and quirkiness. Silly, sure but silly is a lot of fun. Whatever the reason for Nyan Cat's popularity, its undeniably popular. And it's no surprise that fashion pieces featuring the adorable little Pop-Tart-cat are showing up everywhere. Even the most ridiculous trends can permeate the fashion world. One of the cutest and most wearable pieces I found came from Etsy seller Justawesomeapparel. Just like Nyan Cat video this scarf goes on for infinity. The perfect combination of cute, cozy and fun, this scarf will work its way into every outfit in your closet, just like that song will work its way into your head for the rest of the day. |
Rochelle BInstead of fairy tales, my dad read me Batman comics as a kid. My mom preferred to dress me up as a princess. This chic-geek combo is the result. Archives
