Accessories are the perfect companion for any chic geek outfit. No outfit ever really looks complete without them. So since you need earrings and a necklace anyway, why not an adorable set of Companion Cube jewelry to take your look through a portal from average to amazing. This whole set is from Etsy shop Fantastique Plastique. Normally I don't do matchy-matchy jewelry but these are small and the details are subtle enough that it doesn't feel too overdone. Keep the look casual cute and perfect for the (finally) warmer weather we're getting.
Portal has got to be one of the most fun games ever. Though I have a personal bias in favour of anything made by Valve. I don't know why. Their games are just better than any others. Though even out of the Valve games, Portal has a special place in my heart. Its a bit more lighthearted, fun and whimsical. Games like Portal are refreshing in a world where games like Halo and Call of Duty dominate. Too much chaos and shooting, over it. Accessories are the perfect companion for any chic geek outfit. I'll admit to just about the worst of my geekery. Unfortunately, I played Warcraft a lot in high school. Too much really (don't judge me, anyone who's ever played it knows it oddly addictive). And of course, I was always part of the Alliance. They're the good guys, they must be, since they have all the pretty races (or at least they did before Blizzard decided that the Horde needed Blood Elves). Obviously, this bag was calling my name. This is why as a geek, I love Etsy. It's an amazing place almost entirely made up of handcrafted goodies and geekwear you just can't find anywhere else. But to find a handcrafted leather bag with as much detail as this one has is remarkable. "Glory and Honor" is stamped across the top flap, and the well-known Alliance insignia stamped on the side. Thankfully the talented WorldofLeathercraft has you covered if you want your own bag like this one (and yes, if you're for the Horde you can get that instead). I'd guess it has about 8 slots to store all your gear, and enough room so you'll be ready for any unexpected epic loot drops. Keep this look tough with boots, a vest and some seriously cool jeans. You're ready to take on anything, raiding or dueling. I love arcades, I love arcade games, and there is absolutely no arcade in the world that is complete without some version of Pac-Man. It's that classic game that somehow everyone grew up playing. Even though the game is 34 years old, making it at least a decade old already when I played it as a kid, it was still one of the most influential games. This brings me to the obvious conclusion that Pac-Man, ghosts or otherwise, can never really die. And really, why would anybody want it to? Pac-Man meets Ms. Pac-Man on this skirt in a triumphant moment of nostalgia. Its a 12 year long romance (Seriously though Pac-Man, after 12 years why isn't she a Mrs. yet?). I adore this PacMan in Love skirt from Poprageous, dedicated specifically to this power couple. It demonstrates just how powerful love can be in overcoming all obstacle. Or at the very least in avoiding some apparently underfed ghosts. And don't kid yourself, this outfit could make anyone fall in love. Alright, so I'll be the first to admit I haven't played a whole lot of Mass Effect. Not because the game isn't awesome, it totally is. Moreso because I absolutely suck at third (and first) person shooters. Shooting games in general descend from fun to rage-inducing frustration due to my own terrible aim and dying about seven times in a matter of five minutes. But, man those first few minutes are always bliss. So generally when it comes to these types of games I play the role of supportive and enthusiastic spectator. I'm fine with that. Even though I'm not a major Mass Effect player, I do actually love watching people better than myself play it. It's just as thrilling and exhilarating to watch someone else play, and a whole lot less infuriating. That's why when I stumbled upon this Mass Effect varsity jacket from jammymunkey I instantly fell in love. I personally adore the classic Mass Effect black and red colour combo, but if it's more your style to do neutrals it comes in black and gray contrast, too. While it may only come in men's, the whole boyfriend fit trend is still hot, so I say rock this men's jacket chic geeks! Though boyfriend trend or not, it's always acceptable to wear men's clothing stylishly. This look will definitely have a desired mass effect. So go on and make Commander Shepard proud and wear this jacket like the urban armour it is. Saturday mornings and Super Mario went together like peanut butter and jelly when I was a kid. If you had one without the other, it just didn't seem right. Even though I was always the Luigi to my big brother's Mario, I never complained. Why would I? This was what I looked forward to all week. And I know a lot of people who feel the same way. Super Mario was and still is a classic game, recognized everywhere. That's why I adore this cardigan from Etsy seller FantastiquePlastique (In case you haven't noticed the trend yet, Etsy is a geek's best friend). The cute playful look of this cardigan nails the entire spirit of the Super Mario series, and it's infinitely more stylish than anything our favourite Italian plumber has worn so far. While it may be a casual piece, it has the potential to be dressed up if styled correctly because the details are small and subtle enough. So go ahead and power-up your wardrobe with this fun Mario inspired cardigan. Throw on some colourful cigarette pants and a scarf to add some extra life to the whole outfit. Most importantly, feel invincible and blast through anything that gets in your way. |
Rochelle BInstead of fairy tales, my dad read me Batman comics as a kid. My mom preferred to dress me up as a princess. This chic-geek combo is the result. Archives
