While I've only seen a few episodes of Doctor Who (please don't yell at me, it's on my to-do list), I love what I've seen, and most importantly I love the fashion. Those Brits know what's what. This little dress comes from Pinup Girl Clothing. I love the idea of fitted and flattering dresses, with tights (if its cold) and cardigans thrown over top for easy, comfortable and cute outfits. This versatility makes them perfect for fall or worse, (I'm cringing thinking of this...) winter. It's an added bonus that this adorable piece finally makes it your turn to step into the Tardis (in wicked style). Because really, who has the time to be trying to match jeans and tops and accessories, in the dark, at 7 am when you're trying to get ready in a hurry so you stand a chance of beating Toronto traffic...I hate mornings. Dress. Cardigan. DONE.
I love dresses. It doesn't matter what the season is. You can always make dresses appropriate. And why do I love dresses so much you may ask? They are easy. Super easy to throw on in the morning, because really, who would rather spend their time thoughtfully putting together outfits when they could be sleeping? Maybe the Doctor, he is a pretty sharp dresser. But for us normal people who don't have time as it is, dresses are the simple solution. Let me start this post off with a bit of a rant about my #longhairproblems. And if you have hair that falls halfway down your back, you'll understand. The struggle is real. I can't sit back all the way while I'm driving because I'll end up leaning on my hair and therefore unable to move my neck. Cuddling? Guaranteed hair pulling. God help you if the temperature gets above 20 degrees because you'll have your hair sticking and clinging to you in the most uncomfortable way imaginable. And all those times you've thrown your purse over your shoulder hastily only to have your hair caught under the strap...In case you haven't caught my point yet, hair ties are CRUCIAL. So, if you HAVE to wear them sometimes, might as well make 'em cute as can be. Not only are these practical, but super cute even for those days you just feel like switching up your look and putting your hair up. Some of you may already know, over the weekend I spent a decent amount of time scouring through FanExpo looking for super cute goodies to wear and share. And yes, I know, this post is a bit overdue. Sorry. Oddly enough, out of all the cute little things I purchased, these hair ties were not only my absolute favourite, but also the cheapest. My only wish is that they were different aliens and not all 3 the same. But oh well. All 3 of them ran me a whopping $5. How could anyone say no to that? Probably one of the best things about them is that you can actually wear them with anything. Minus your best formal attire obviously. Yesterday I wore one to the gym. Today I wore one just to hang out and go shopping. For such a small item, they get a lot of attention, from fellow geeks, and funny enough, a whole lot of nostalgic people who remember playing Space Invaders when they were younger. Ex: My dad thought these were the most brilliant thing I've ever bought. I tried to find them online for you, my geekhearts, but could only find the yellow one here. So if you feel like grabbing your own, go for it! Add a bit of geek flair to your everyday style and feel free to share the stylish results with me! |
Rochelle BInstead of fairy tales, my dad read me Batman comics as a kid. My mom preferred to dress me up as a princess. This chic-geek combo is the result. Archives
