I'll be the first to admit that I didn't fully understand the whole perler bead thing. At every anime con, FanExpo, comic convention and so forth, there was always booths upon booths of creative, artsy people selling them. Despite the exposure, I never fully grasped what you were supposed to do with them, or what their purpose was. Like I said, for a fashion girl, I'm really practical in my approach to spending money. Then I realised...they're just really cute. Sometimes that's purpose enough. Not only are they adorable, but they also add a lot of personality to a room without really taking up much space (or any at all really).
Naturally now that I've had this epiphany, I had to get some. Thankfully I had the lovely, brilliant and astoundingly talented PixelPerfectByMT to help me out. The obvious place to start collecting these adorable little pieces was with the original Pokemon. Mew has always been one of my absolute favourites. I still remember the plushy Mew keychain that dangled from my backpack from the age of 9 til...I don't know, like last week when I lost it? (I was devastated). The Growlithe is for my fiance, and the cutest of the fire types. I can get fully on board with a Growlithe in all his adorable pixelated glory.
They are currently sitting on top of my framed shoe prints. Something about the juxtaposition of high fashion shoe art, topped with 8-bit adorableness just appeals to me.
