Ok, now on to the point of this post. ANIME NORTH 2015!!! As always, it was a great experience. I got some cute new goodies, spent some time with awesome and fun people. I saw some unexpected things, and a good time was had by all. Though oddly enough, I found myself gravitating in a bit of a different direction with my purchases this year. Of course, I added to my ever expanding geeky accessory collection. I checked out some really cool looking apparel too, but as usual I found myself being too picky and indecisive to actually buy any of it. That's to be expected too. What WAS surprising was the amount of board games I managed to accumulate in one weekend. I've always enjoyed board games, but I guess some good friends must've rubbed off on me a bit. Now I have the start of what I'm sure is going to be a kickass collection. Who wants to come over?!
So what did I actually buy this time around? Let's get into this for real. (Also, please excuse photo quality. I swear it didn't look that bad when I took the picture. Might retake them this weekend or something). So first and foremost. DRAGONITE PLUSHIE! Because...DRAGONITE! Such cute. Much plush. Had to struggle to keep my pup from eating him. Poor Dragonite. Poor puppy. Tees that were so cute, so cool, so awesome and that I wanted SO bad but were only available in mens. Unimpressed. So I figured I'd play dress up with the boyfriend. Both of these tees had such character. I felt like the were so different from the mass produced generic superhero/ Pokemon kind of stuff. I love the breakdown of Charmander's anatomy, it's like having a Pokedex right on your chest. And the art deco styling of the Iron Man tee was so unexpected and a bit whimsical. I like that. Next up, the Charizard hat. Because Charmander's got to evolve at some point. Also, I didn't have a baseball hat and I've been experimenting with ways to work them into chic outfits (and loving the results. Expect to see that on the blog soon).
Then there's the board games, all of which I highly recommend you try. Round up your friends and plan something, I promise you it'll be way better than the usual weekend alternatives. One Night Ultimate Werewolf, and the expansion, Daybreak. Quick sum up: Your town is under attack by werewolves. You and your friends are randomly given a role, putting you on the side of the villagers or werewolves. No one but you knows who's side you're on. Werewolves kill villagers, villagers accuse people of being werewolves, chaos ensues. Shadowhunters: Again, your role in the game is randomly assigned and you have to try and figure out who's on your team. Hunters try to kill Shadows, Shadows try to kill Hunters, and the neutrals have their own random win conditions just to spice up the game. Also purchased that weekend and not pictured, Legendary, the Marvel heroes deck building game. Unfortunately I don't even know how to begin explaining this game, but it is fun. I recommend you Google how it works. I promise I'll just make it more confusing than anything trying to explain.
On to the jewellry! First and foremost, because it goes with my PowerUp Star and Jigglypuff in a bottle necklaces... Navi in a bottle earrings. Because it always helps to have good advice and guidance right near your ears. Right? Sure, why not. It's a good a reason as I could come up with. Other than they are cute, fabulous and easy to work into outfits. Then there's the versatile Companion Cube cameo-style necklace and brooch. Definitely easier to wear as a necklace, but I tried it as a brooch on a new skater dress I just got and it actually worked. For the right occasion, it's a great little touch of personality. I'm all about that. Last but not least, my book page in a pendant necklace. I wish I could find the card for this vendor, I remember the name Geek Glass, but couldn't find them on Etsy or Google. So sad, because I spent about twenty minutes debating between this passage from a Daenerys Targaryen chapter of Game of Thrones, about her brother Rhaegar, and a bit from the Hobbit about Thorin Oakenshield. If any one knows where to find this shop let me know! Because really, I should've bought both. I've owned this necklace for a bit over a week and probably worn it close to every other day. Sigh. Anyway I really can't complain. The haul from this year was great. Can't wait to put it all to use!
Hope to see you all there next year my geekies! Until then, feel free to check out the slideshow below with close-up pictures of all the items individually
