While the claim to make my eyelashes ridiculously over-the-top in true manga fashion is great, does it actually deliver? I stood in the crowded aisle of the pharmacy for a few minutes, struggling and debating on whether or not it was worth a try. The price was right, I did need mascara, and a good friend had said L'Oreal mascaras are generally pretty good. Eventually I figured at the very least I'd get a blog post out of it, so naturally, I went for it. I've got to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm a bit of a makeup snob occasionally, (sue me) and generally think that those pharmacy brands like Maybelline and L'Oreal are just inferior to my usual (more expensive) brands. A stupid thing I'm guilty of, I know it, but don't act like you don't do it too! While the mascara wasn't the absolute best I've ever had, the results were surprisingly good. My eyelashes were insanely long (I could feel them touch my eyebrows if I looked up) and clump free. Not bad. But what REALLY impressed me was the staying power of this mascara, which really wasn't even highlighted as a benefit.
Some context for you all; I'm a disaster, I leave home for extended periods of time, put myself in a variety of weird situations and strange environments, and never bring makeup with me for touch-ups. I need my mascara to stay in place. Despite that, Miss Manga held up. It got rained on, went through a sauna, the gym, and other general sports. It survived crying and vigorous eye rubbing (as a contact-wearer this happens a lot). It endured serious nights out and about. And yes, for those who understand the struggle of coming home late, tired, and beyond caring about anything other than their bed (#thestruggleisreal), I slept with it on too. I woke up the next morning pretty much ready to go take on the day. No black smears on my pillow, no flakes on my face. This mascara does not flake, crumble or smudge under any condition. FINALLY! Check out the before and afters (2 coats of Miss Manga) below. Will you be giving it a try?
